Windows Help Files (.hlp, WinHelp) support
Windows Help Files (.hlp extension) are unsupported in Windows 10/11. There is a workaround to install the old version of the help viewer from Windows 8, but it does not support high DPI and you need to bypass Windows file protection in order to install it.
The .hlp files were used in old software, Win32 documentation, and e-zines, some of which are still interesting today. It's a pity that you cannot open them in the new Windows versions, so the knowledge contained in these files is lost. It would be great if SumatraPDF could open them and show the basic content (without full-text search / macros) just like it does for CHM files. There are open-source libraries like WinhelpCGI that can read the format. Thank you so much.
