Saving a file without an extension in the correct file type on save

I am using SumatraPDF to open large numbers of files with no file extensions or incorrect extensions. Sumatra opens many of these files correctly (although some file types do not open unless they have a .zip extension, interestingly), and I can save the files with new file names, but no file-extension is appended automatically to the saved file. In a similar situation in a browser files might open, and on save, they are saved with .pdf extension or .txt extension if the files were .pdf or .txt for example. It would be great if on save, the save option would correctly identify the file type as the default save.
